This class will look at economics through the standard definition of neoclassical economics put forward by Lionel Robbins. We said that it is just under definition because it is widely used. It is however a complicated definition with every word meaning something important.
Many approaches may be taken to economics, some gentler than others, but we have chosen the traditional route. That needs further explanation also, by traditional we mean widely studied, in some countries they will study different views of economics. Indeed all of the terms in our definition may be questioned and disputed, however, we leave that depth of analysis to subsequent study at a later stage. We simply wish to get across the idea of what economics is about and how it impinges on our lives. Highly recommended!
