Hi, I’m Alexa and this is a Marketing Minute on email marketing.

As social media marketing continues to grow, many think that email marketing is dying off. However, email marketing can still be any effective way to cultivate a community and communicate directly with your audience.

Email marketing should be used to inform and educate your audience instead of interrupt and sell.

So how do you make email marketing work for you?

First, make sure you have a strong subject line.

Avoid sending your email to someone’s spam folder by steering clear of subject lines that contain, $ signs, all capitalized type, exclamation points, or of starting a subject line with, Do you like, Do you want, or Do you have.

Don’t abuse someone’s inbox. Frequent emails without the right context will only lead to people unsubscribing from your email list.

Next, keep your emails short and break up any long text with photos.

Finally, make sure to include an unsubscribe button so that receivers can opt out if they want to. But be sure to monitor how many people are unsubscribing and adjust your email contacts or email content accordingly.
